Thanks man! I did work it out eventually – I have the same the problem as Simon in statement 76 although when following the instructions Settings aoption 4 the remote takes me to a favourites page????

Certy, the EPG is on-screen TV guide (Electronic Programme Guide).

If the guide looks like the one in this article then you have the new EPG (http://thetechangel.com/blog/2009/11/sky-says-epg-update-is-on-the-way-really/), if you have something else when you press ‘TV Guide’ on your Sky remote load then you don’t.

Hi Vicky,

Try changing the homepage to anything else but IMdb.com in Firefox (such as Google.com). If it works normally when starting up on the new homepage then it would point to a faultly plugin in Firefox (not necessarily Flash Player).

What is an epg and how do I know if I’ve an old one or a new one – by the way the reason I’m updating or resetting the software is that the box freezes every day or the screen change or selection reaction is 20 or 30 seconds behind he remote button press – is this the right thing to do?

I’m using Windows 7 (64 bit) for the first time, so bear with me! IE9 was pre-installed and so far seems stable. After installing firefox 10.0.1 it locks up immediately. The home page is the same for both browsers: IMDb.com. Will this fix resolve my firefox issue? I’m not sure if IE9 being stable indicates it is a different problem or is it a red herring? Have updated the link to download Flash Player 10 for you to an old archived version from Adobe. There are lots of folders contained in this rather large download. Open the folder called 10r45_2 and run the file ‘flashplayer10r45_2_winax’.

Hope this helps you and others who maybe reading this, but I will archiving this posting and closing comments in the coming days. This is after all a fix from 2008.

The hard drive stopped working and the planner, record and playback function flagged a system fault. I tried a system reset but still no joy. I then tried the software upgrade and once complete all functions have been restored and the box is working fine. Great stuff and saved a long winded call to sky. Thanks.

Er… ok real noob here (so be gentle)
I have Windows 7 64bit system and er… Firefox 9.
I have the flash plugin 11.1.102 installed and the flash player 11.
Firefox keeps crashing.
Will your patch work for me? How do I get it?
Please help.

a year later…wow…looks like it just worked for me too…thanks
