A folder is a file container on a disk. Like a folder in a real-world filing cabinet, you can store related files in the same folder to help organise your information.

For example your Documents folder might contain folders to help sort your various files out.

Disk is a computer storage medium (using non-optical technology).

It is not the same as a disc.

Disc is a storage medium using optical technology. The term includes CD-ROMs, digital video discs and laser discs.

The Cursor is the small pointer that moves about the screen in a direct relationship to the movements of your mouse and hand.

Crash is a serious computer problem that causes a program to stop or for the whole computer to stop working.

Boot means to start up a computer. For example, “boot-up you computer” or “reboot” as in to restart.

Backup is duplicate copy of a file. You should backup your data files regularly so you have a spare copy if the original is accidentally damaged or lost.
