Since the end of last year various parties have asked me “I get to much spam in Outlook Express, is there anything I can do about it. Do I need to buy a spam filter?” (more…)
It’s that time of the month again, Patch Batch Tuesday for Windows users. Microsoft has also pointed out that 3 of the patches for you are critical, so make sure you do those updates (if you haven’t already been requested to). (more…)
It is the eternal struggle of living in the twenty-first century and owning any thing electrical. It always needs a little MOT and an update. Sorry, but there is little I do can to solve that issue for you.
But, I would like to explain and sort out some digital urban legends I have heard over the years. (more…)

Microsoft has released a second ‘Vista Performance and Reliability Patch’. The original one was first posted back in August, and it certainly did address some issues.

This morning, I was delighted to read that Microsoft has released an ‘unofficial’ service pack for Windows Vista. Microsoft plans to release 12 patches next Tuesday (13 February) as part of its regular monthly security update cycle.
These patches will include five security bulletins concerning Windows, at least one of which is critical, and two involving Office (of which one, at minimum, earns the dreaded critical rating). It remains to be seen whether these fixes will resolve a trio of Word flaws which have been left flapping about since early December.
Customers are reminded to keep their computers up to date, and to visit windowsupdate.microsoft.com about once a month, even if you have already installed updates recently and automatically.
For those of you who don’t know, Windows Vista (the replacement to Windows XP) is nearly here. Despite more setbacks than the victory party on the War on Terror, it really does look like it is go later this month (November 2006).
For those of you who are worried that your Christmas present will have the old Windows XP - fear not. A majority of manufacturers will supply new computers with a funky little voucher, which will allow users to purchase an upgrade to Vista at a knock-down price.
Needless to say, Hewlett-Packard (HP), theopenworldtechnician’s computer manufacture of choice is apart of the scheme, and computers shipping today will have all the details.
Remember you can buy computers directly from HP here, or you can chat to thetechangel.com (previously known as theopenworldtechnician.com) for details and purchase it through me.
