Today is a special day for the Blogberry – it’s the second Birthday!

Since the first Birthday last year, lots of good things have happened, and more articles that you can shake a stick at have been written. In fact, close to 350 in total over the last two years – that’s a lot of Blogging!

The biggest and best news though (for me) is that for the first year’s birthday article I wrote “Seven and half thousand [unique] users have viewed content here in the last 12 months from across the Globe”. I am now excited to say that that I get those numbers of readers in the space of a month!

As my customers well know by now at the start of this year (2008) it was decided that theopenworldtechnician.com would change it’s name to be thetechangel.com. This was a bold move, but it has paid off. This was done as users of the IT support business where getting confused with the brand, which is owned by theopenworld.com Media Group. As both theopenworld.com and theopenworldtechnician.com had grown into significant enterprises, we decided to distinguish between branding and appearance of the two businesses.

Blogberry Upgrade

This week also saw some other changes – an upgrade to the Blogberry. Essential changes have been made to the page layouts to make it easier for users to not only navigate, but also to share content with other users of the Internet the world over. Users can also find that they can make comments on articles (should they wish) and keep track what others are saying using RSS.

Users will also find that all images used in future posting from now on, that contain images, will have a written caption displayed underneath.

Regular users with also find that the Blogberry search box has been moved into the top-centre part of the page for fast and easier searches, should they want to find older articles. The font size has also been enlarged. Tags are now with all articles too, for better searches of related articles.

Whilst the upgrade is in beta (an out in the wild testing of software, but not fully functional or finished), some very minor changes will be made in the course of the next couple of weeks. But as ever, feedback on things is always welcome. Send comments and suggestions to the usual address or use the contact form above.

Many Happy Returns!

The Blogberry came about as an easy way of sharing useful IT related information with pay customers, but also to keep my sanity by not having to repeat the same answers day in day out (that does not mean I am lazy!!!). It was always freely available to anyone in the world to read too, and based on the stats I would say “did they ever!” But, now with an ever increasing audience or readers has started to take on a seriously big life of it’s own, with readers in over 124 countries.

I have always believed that some simple and basic knowledge in IT should always be freely available and shared alike. I hope that by writing the Blogberry I have for filled that hope for so many people.

Here is to another year, and can’t wait to see where things are at in 12 months time!

Much love to all readers and come back soon,

Daniel
