Nokia gets ‘Morph’ing with bendy, touchy phone

There are plenty of developing technologies out there, and plenty of wild concepts. Some of the best I have seen over the past year can be read about on the right, just choose Future Technologies on the right menu.
Back in February Nokia certainly got tongues wagging with its latest concept phone, and I have to say I am turning my noise-up here.
The boffins at Cambridge Uni have been busy creating The Morph mobile and it certainly looks like it was dreamt-up after a few beers or one too many Star Trek episodes.

As the name would suggest, the Morph can bend itself into shape, not just one, but many – from the candy bar phone to media device shaped like a credit card, or even as a wrist bracelet. This is apparently done “newly-enabled flexible and transparent materials”. The Morph can apparently even self-clean and monitor the environment around it. Judging by the photos from Nokia, some kind of ear peace / headset can be attached to either your ear or the handset. Both parts of the device are powered by solar energy.
I am not sure if it’s the idea of this, colours used in the promo, or just the design, but an unsettling (all be it snobbish) feeling that this won’t take off anytime soon, even if it is a fantasy concept.
