A Europe without planes – The Volcano’s Effect

1. Pay attention to politics
2. Keep an eye out for volcanic ash smothering the skies again
3. Ignore them all
4. Both 1 and 2

This week, I’ll be doing both 1 and 2.

But here is a brilliant visualisation of the effect that the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull had on European aviation. The emptiness of the skies of north-western Europe on April 16th and 17th gradually gives way to a familiar frenzy. Flightradar24 is responsible for the data, which show some gaps in France and over the Atlantic.
