The last seven days, I think we can all agree, have been very odd news-wise and disruptive for many travellers.
The volcano / ash has completely over shadowed the election campaigns (all puns intended!) and I think for a while people forgot that there was even an election happening. In fact, since the skies have reopened many have suddenly remembered that we still have a further two weeks before electing a new leader.
However, it’s hardly surprising to learn that the blogosphere went into complete overdrive with comments and stories of terrible journeys home and so forth. Some people took a much more humorous approach, here are some of my favourite tweets of the week:
Littlesapling: “Dear Iceland, we said ‘send cash’ can’t you read?”
Another says: “Honestly. If you can’t look after a volcano you shouldn’t be allowed to keep one!”
My favourite: “First they declare themselves bankrupt, then they set fire to the island. Sounds like insurance fraud to me.”
And this brilliant article from the Daily Mash-up is well worth a read too – it had me in stitches:
“I can’t come into work because of the volcano”
