Online reviews for things you may buy, visit, or think about, are really useful when making decisions. Unfortunately, some aren’t that trustworthy.
Here are a few tips that will help you spot fake reviews from the real ones.
-
The first is the easiest: glowing praise of a product, with no downsides or aspects of constructive criticism, and marketing type adjectives used.
- If the review mainly lists the product features, then it’s probably fake. Real users tend to talk a lot more about how good it is in terms of reliability, value and performance.
- Reviewers listed names are all variations of one another, i.e. ‘aperson1’, ‘apearson456’, ‘ap789’. If in doubt check their review history, if they have only done a couple, which is mainly orientated around those products…most likely it’s fake.
- Also, if all the glowing reviews were left around the same time – it’s an easy spot.
