Dyson, the design geniuses, that make vacuum cleaners and ‘blade’ hand dryers have now moved into making fans.
Being Dyson they reinvented the fan so much that they needed to give it a new name of ‘air multiplier’. It doesn’t even remotely look like a fan, it doesn’t even have fan blade. It’s more like a large magnifying glass which is something out of the film Stargate.
It works by drawing air silently from behind and then amplifying it through the ring by 15 times the speed to produce cool, continuous flow. In fact, 405 litres of air per second.
James Dyson said “I’ve always been disappointed by fans…Their spinning blades chop up the airflow, causing annoying buffeting. They’re hard to clean. And children always want to poke their fingers through the grille. So we’ve developed a new type of fan that doesn’t use blades.”
This amazing re-invention of such a classic device doesn’t come in cheap – £199!
