After yesterday’s sudden announcement and stopping of work, I finally got my hands on some Tamiflu.

My Tamiflu box
Whilst I seem to have had Swine Flu (at this stage) very mildly, I really have to say I felt rough before I started taking Tamiflu.
On Monday evening I felt terrible, and actually went to bed at 8:20 that evening and slept for 12 hours. I had felt fine all day until about 6 o’clockish. Common sense was taken and had plenty of fluids and regular doses of paracetamol.
Then it was straight onto NHS Direct on Tuesday morning, who I have to give credit to, were really helpful. After that it was fairly straight forward:
- Send my ‘Flu Friend’ to go and pick-up antivirals (Mum – thank you for your help, you’re a star)
- Order a stockpile of food from online and local grocer (thank you Alfie for your help too)
- Go to bed and sleep and watch daytime TV (such cr*p by the way), films and whatever is on my PVR
I am on the mend now (so to speak), but have constant chills, highs and averages in temperature. Sleeping lots too which definitely helps.
Also starting to get a bit claustrophobic because I have to be in isolation for up to 10 days. If I am 100% sooner than I am allowed out.
Like I said I have had it mildly, but it’s worse than a bad cold, but not as bad (in my case) as full blown regular flu. I am also glad that I am having this in a period that is relatively quiet for this time of year. Plus, much better to get it over with now rather than in the depths of winter.
For those wanting NHS contact or online info, or tips on how to clean your PC from bugs head over to my original announcement posting here.
