Cyber criminals can hack Wi-Fi systems, so it is best practice to not put sensitive information in websites you maybe visiting, unless you are on a secure site (look for the padlock symbol in your browser).
Also, definitely avoid entering credit card numbers, security Ids and passwords until your back on a secure network.
If you’re working on documents or offline work that does not require the Internet, best advice is to flick your Wi-Fi switch on your laptop to the ‘off’ position.
Lastly, it is really important to have up-to-date antivirus and firewall software installed onto your laptop. This should block anything that is suspicious or unusual is happening whilst you’re working on the go.
Recommended software for laptop users is Norton Internet Security, with built in firewall.
If you have just a standard firewall and antivirus, it would be recommended to go for the proper security product.
