Microsoft looks to the future

has recently been showing off some ideas of technologies which it hopes will eventually be in the market place.

The video below from Microsoft gives an indication, if not a idealistic way, of what it all those gizmos emerging on the market now would look like in a few years time if they were all able to speak and work together.

The video shows 12 separate ideas and projects that Microsoft is working on, the system is known as ‘Quests’.

There is a longer version of the video (not yet available at time of going to press).

The main aspect of the presentation is ‘SecondLight’, an emerging technology that gets a surface PC (see more on that here) to project multiple displays. Also NanoTouch which is a way of creating touch-input on the back of a small electronic device, and a computerised receptionist.

Certainly some of the concepts are a long way off, but others are much, much closer than you might think. The odd thing about this, for those of you who are thinking “No way!”, is that oddly enough most of them are plausable!
