Anyone with a Freeview box should be aware that some channel numbers will be changing from next week.
Multichannel services from ITV and Channel 4 will be moving slots on the EPG (Electronic Programme Guide).
On Tuesday 24th February the following channel numbers will be moving:
- ITV 4 will move from channel 28 to 24
- CITV will move from channel 75 to 72
- ITV 2+1 will move from channel 31 to 27
- E4 will move from channel 29 to 28
- E4+1 will move from channel 30 to 29.
In a statement, Freeview said to Digital Spy, the changes are being made “to enable new channels to be added and to improve the TV guide”.
The important part
Freeview users must rescan or retune their set-top box or TV in order to continue receiving the channels affected.
Also, Freeview+ users (those with a PVR, or recordable set-top box) will need to make sure that their planned recordings and series links are re-established or re-input after the scan in complete.
One final note: You won’t be able to get these changes until Tuesday, so don’t try doing the scan now.
