Sky customers should be pleased with the ever expanding range of good value services that are available to them for either nothing, or a little bit extra on their bill.
For example, Sky offers TV (yeah, I know you know that!) but also free broadband if you pay for £16 a month and upwards on your TV subscription, catch-up and watch online services (similar to that of the BBC iPlayer), as well as discounted calls on your landline, and now back-up and share services.
Murdock’s empire has now decided to start offering online storage and back-up services which offers users a range of packages to upload, back-up and distribute their data.
Looking at it from a different angle, it means your precious photos, music purchases and other important files can be kept safely and securely online. You can choose to keep your data to your self, or share a folder(s) with selected friends and family. Friends and family will be sent a special link via email should you want to share files or photos of your most recent holiday.
But, it does get a little better still, there is a back-up service which enables users to automatically back-up their data which can then be restored to any computer should need be.
For starters (low-end users) there is 1GB of storage space for nothing, amazingly even for those without a Sky TV or broadband package. The catch is that the account must be accessed at least once every 30 days to keep it active.
For those wanting a little more room, £2.50pm will get you 10GB of space and the backup manager is also provided. But for the high-end users, £4.50pm will get them an incredible 60GB of space, which is the equivalent to most users own hard drive sizes.
Sorry Mac users, again you will have to sit this one out for the time being, but news is it is on the way (can’t say when though).
So if you have been pondering getting Sky, it would be considered good value – i.e. TV, broadband, back-up and telephone.
