Windows Updates – something for everybody this month

This month Microsoft has released 11 patches and fixes for Windows and Office users. All of which, users are highly advised to download and install Windows Update(if not already requested by Windows) as six are critical.

Most patches are Internet related to stop denial of service attacks, remote hijacks of your computer and Microsoft says “an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.”

MS08-008 and MS08-009 updates, which are flagged as critical also is not just for Windows users, but for those who have Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. The update addresses the vulnerability detailed in CVE-2007-0065. If exploited, the vulnerability could allow remote code execution through attacks on Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) Automation if a user viewed a specially crafted Web page.

So get the update today, right now.

Details of how to update and install are here (Updates, updates, updates – when, what and how?) in a post from last year. This article also says why it is so important to keep your machine up to date.
