Dear Customers and Blogberry readers,
Christmas and the New Year are rapidly coming up, and I thought that it would be a useful opportunity to let you know about a few developments that I have planned for the new year (and also to let you know when I will be downing tools before Christmas).
Seasonal Break
Firstly, I shut-up shop for this year on 18th December 2007. So the last working date of the year will be the 17th. Normal service will resume on Monday 7th January 2008.
So a few pointers:
- Don’t leave something until the last minute to get sorted out
- Please book a time as far in advance as possible, preferably online (anytime of the day or night)
- If you need help with something, please try the Blogberry where I have already answered many frequently asked questions . (It’s really easy, just use the search box on the right to find what you’re looking for.) Alternatively, you can always run a query through theopenworld.com search engine.
New year, new name
Secondly, beginning next year, theopenworldtechnician.com is changing its name. It will now be called ‘thetechangel.com’.
Why is this being done? Well, originally theopenworldtechnician.com was housed under theopenworld.com. In 2005 it then broke away onto its own domain name and separate identity. As both theopenworld.com and theopenworldtechnician.com have now grown into significant enterprises, we have been decided to distinguish between branding and appearance of the two businesses. This means that starting in 2008, theopenworldtechnician.com site will be redirected over to thetechangel.com
Apart from the site name, will anything else change? Yes is the simple answer. The contact email address will change, and all customers will be notified of this new address via email (and snail-mail). The blogberry will still run as normal, but under thetechangel.com/blog. theopenworld.com will continue to own thetechangel.com, and all payments will still be made out to ‘theopenworld.com’.
So please remember to update your address book, favourites and bookmarks. All customers will receive details shortly.
Adjustment to rates
Thirdly, starting next year, my hourly rate will be increase to £30.00 per hour. As many of you know, the rate hasn’t changed over the last three years and an increase is now unavoidable. Of course, all invoices for work done in 2007 will remain at the old rate.
There will also be a flat rate travel fee for every customer of £5.00.
No more cheques
Fourthly, commencing 2008, theopenworldtechnician.com (now thetechangel.com) will stop accepting cheque payments. Customers will still be able pay by cash, bank transfer (telephone or online), or using the online credit card system powered by Google Checkout. (Those customers who insist on paying by cheque will incur an additional £5 processing fee.)
So that is nearly it for 2007. Have an excellent Christmas and New Year holiday, and it’s business as usual from Monday 7th January 2008, under a new name.
Best wishes,
thetechangel.com
