Patch Batch Tuesday – The Last One of 2008

This week see’s the final round of patches for Windows users in 2008. Six are flagged as ‘critical’ and two others are rated ‘important’.

The are available for download on 9th December.

The announcement is meant to be a heads-up for IT support, but users should also take note and install either when prompted or when available to manually install them from the Update site.

Amongst the batch, the critical ones that affect Windows users are mainly to MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc.), Visual Basic, and Explorer. All of the patches flaws that would allow naughty hackers to execute code remotely.

The ‘important’ patches are for PCs with Windows Media Centre and SharePoint software.
